Are you aware that a new type of home exists that is guaranteed to change the way you live?

A home that is:
2X more energy efficient than a conventional wood-framed home.
3X more sound resistant than a wood-framed wall.
4X more fire resistant than a wood-framed wall.
9X stronger than a conventional wood-framed home.

Picture yourself surrounded by comfort, quiet and beauty. This is what awaits you, once you have decided to make the move to the home you deserve. A home that is affordable, yet superior in every way.

It is a fact that today s well-informed homeowners are looking for newer, more efficient ways to build homes. They want strength, comfort and lower energy bills, while also allowing for flexibility of design and lower future maintenance costs. Energy efficiency remains the quickest, cheapest and cleanest way to help lower home energy bills.

Building technology has advanced greatly. Quality builders are using ICF s (Insulated Concrete Forms) to create homes that are safer, stronger and healthier than ever before. This type of building is based on simple, interlocking, stacking blocks made from flame-retardant expanded polystyrene (EPS) panels connected by molded-in high density polyethylene structural foam bridging. Filled with concrete, these blocks create a monolithic wall with a minimum insulation value of R25; which then because of the heat retaining properties of concrete increase their performance to R50. They also have a fire rating which is just under four hours. In addition to all this, there is an added bonus of efficiency because building the walls of a home with ICF s can take one half of the time (or less) of conventional construction.

The really good news is that now everyone can afford to live in one of these homes; everyone who is concerned about future energy costs and their environment .

The initial investment is only about 10% more than the old way of building (wood-frame); but considerably less when you think of the long term costs of energy and maintenance.

Adding other energy efficient features, such as High Efficiency Tank-Less Water Heaters that can heat your whole house while giving you an endless stream of hot water; High Efficiency Low-E Argon Windows, Heat Recovery Ventilators connected to an Earth Energy system that pre-conditions incoming air, and Radiant Floor Heating which gives you the ultimate in comfort with body temperature heated floors, can slash 50% off of a homeowner s monthly heating and cooling bills.

Gone are the days of buying a home for appearance sake only. A little bit of effort and common sense can go a long way in making your home more energy-efficient. New homebuyers are consciously choosing to make informed decisions concerning their future and that of their family s future. They are turning to homes which are more energy-efficient, and environmentally-friendly in addition to paying them dividends for years to come.

When you want a quick and inexpensive new look in your home consider a change of rugs! Doormats and accent rugs can be an easy way to spice up your home and are a fun way to welcome in the change of seasons.

There are thousands of different types of doormats and accent rugs available for your home. Some can be personalized with your name or your street number. Some have pictures of seasonal characters such as pumpkins and witch’s and snowmen and Santa Claus. Others show wildlife such as cardinals and bluebirds and some show flowers like sunflowers or fall leaves.

Some indoor doormats and accent rugs look like expensive oriental rugs, but are safe indoors or out. Made with polypropylene or olefin these are all weather outdoor rugs that can withstand blistering sun, rain and snow. They won’t fade or mildew. They wash easily with a squirt from the hose.

Some manufacturers are making decorative doormats and accent rugs with coco. Coco is great at trapping dirt at the front door. Coco is an extremely durable fiber which won’t pill. Coco is quick drying and mildew resistant.

There are some very decorative doormats that are silk screened and printed with durable inks. These doormats will withstand heavy traffic and have UV protection.

If you have a very sunny entryway to your home you may want to consider a plain mat, unless you don’t mind replacing that faded one a new one every few months. What you can do is consider one of the newer doormats made of rubber or one made of aluminum.

Doormats made of rubber are gaining in popularity. These doormats are non slip and resist mold and mildew and fading and clean very easily
with a hose. They come in many intricate designs and different shapes.

A very classy way to say “welcome” to your guests is to have an elegant aluminum doormat. These can also be personalized and are offered in protective powder coatings of black silver, copper, bronze and pewter finishes. These are very heavy mats that will not move under foot. Mats made of cast aluminum will withstand many, many years of outdoor use.

Mold spores. They almost sound like alien invaders from a 1950 s sci-fi movie — Attack of the Killer Mold Spores! But that description may not be too far off the mark. Mold is dangerous. It can be more prevalent and can cause more health problems than termites, carbon monoxide, asbestos, or radon. In fact, mold is everywhere and impossible to get rid of in nature. According to the EPA website, There is no practical way to eliminate all mold and mold spores in the indoor environment; the way to control indoor mold growth is to control moisture. From one third to one half of all buildings in the United States have the damp conditions necessary to facilitate the growth of mold, according to the Consumer Product Safety Commission.

Mold and mold spores can cause serious health problems and, in the case of someone with mold sensitivities, even death. Many people are vaguely aware of the health concerns when it comes to mold but most do not know that mold can also cause serious damage to a house or building (similar to a termite infestation.) When it comes to protecting your family and your home, fighting and preventing mold should be at the top of every homeowner s list.

WHAT IS MOLD?
The simple answer: molds are part of the fungi kingdom, similar to yeasts or mushrooms (the antibiotic Penicillin is actually a mold.)Mold is a living organism, a part of nature, and even has a beneficial function – it breaks down all of our dead organic matter. Mold reproduces by releasing tiny spores, invisible to the naked eye, into the air. These spores land in moist areas and begin to grow and spread. While there are hundreds of thousands of varieties of mold, none would exist without the presence of moisture, air, and something to feed on. Since mold will always exist outdoors, it is important to control the one ingredient a homeowner doesn t need inside the house moisture.

Mold can grow on rotting wood, grass, weeds, and compost piles. The problem is that it can also grow where you don t want it to indoors. It can be found on food or clothing, in bathrooms and attics and damp basements, on carpeting, and even inside the walls of a house. Mold can feed on the wood in the wall, breaking down the materials as it spreads unseen throughout a house. As the mold digests organic material, it continues to spread to find new food sources.

Spotting mold can be easy, if the mold colony is visible. Mold comes in a variety of colors (including white, black, green, gray, brown, and more), bunching as spots or discolorations. If the mold is not visible, someone may not recognize mold is present until it is late in the process. People discover mold when there is physical damage to a structure or an increase in musty smells. Sometimes mold won t be found until the occupants experience health problems. By then, it may be too late. Whenever a house or building has an overexposure to moisture, it is important to inspect for mold. Moisture overexposure can come from many sources, including:

o Floods
o Roofs or basements that leak
o Irrigation or fire sprinklers
o Shower or bath water
o Sink or sewer overflow
o Humidifiers
o Plumbing leaks

WHY SHOULD I WORRY ABOUT MOLD?
There are two main reasons to worry about the spread of mold in a building. The most important consideration mold can cause health problems. The second consideration property damage. Frank Foreman, President & CEO of NO ODOR, Inc, a mold remediation company, believes mold is coming to the forefront because everyone is learning that mold damage can affect property value.

Let s start with the health issues. Molds produce allergens that can cause reactions such as sneezing, runny noses, even asthma attacks in those allergic to it. It can even cause irritation to the nose, throat, lungs, and eyes to those who are not allergic. Certain molds can also release toxins (mycotoxins) that cause more serious problems. According to the Mold Help Organization, exposure to these mycotoxins could cause people to suffer from a myriad of serious symptoms and illnesses such as chronic bronchitis, learning disabilities, mental deficiencies, heart problems, cancer, multiple sclerosis, chronic fatigue, lupus, fibromyalgia, rheumatoid arthritis, multiple chemical sensitivity, bleeding lungs and much more (http://www.mold-help.org/content/view/478/).

Because many people are not as aware or concerned about the health threats of mold, it is also important to consider the damage it can cause to property. Everyone tends to pay more attention to a problem when it affects the wallet. A home or business is the largest investment most people have. A colony or colonies of mold can cause severe devastation. According to the EPA website, If you already have a mold problem act quickly. Mold damages what it grows on. The longer it grows, the more damage it can cause (http://www.epa.gov/mold/moldcleanup.html).

Mold can cause structural damage to a building, because it feeds on and breaks down the organic matter (wood, mostly) within the structure. When mold grows in the walls, on insulation, or under carpeting, these items must be removed from the building. In addition to the damage caused to the building, mold may destroy personal items in the home. It can attach to personal property which may be very difficult or impossible to clean. Often the item will have to be destroyed because the mold cannot be completely removed.

WHAT CAN BE DONE ABOUT THE MOLD?
For the most part, since mold is everywhere, it is impossible to completely avoid all indoor molds. The key to preventing mold is to control the moisture levels indoors. The EPA website states, If there is mold growth in your home, you must clean up the mold and fix the water problem. If you clean up the mold, but don’t fix the water problem, then, most likely, the mold problem will come back (http://www.epa.gov/mold/moldbasics.html).

For small areas, usually a moldy section of 9 to 10 square feet, the home or business owner can usually clean up the mold themselves. For larger areas, it is important to hire a professional mold removal contractor to make sure the problem is taken care of safely.

If you have a small patch of black, green or gray colored spots, Frank Foreman, of NO ODOR, Inc., has a smart tip to determine whether or not it is mold: put some hydrogen peroxide on the growth and watch the reaction. Almost everyone has one of those brown bottles of the 3% hydrogen peroxide solution in their medicine cabinet, so he suggests putting it in a clean spray bottle and spraying the colored spots. If the solution runs down the wall and there is no reaction, then the spots are not growths of mold (it could possibly just be dirt.) Since mold is a living organism, when sprayed with the hydrogen peroxide, there will be an oxidation process. If you hit it and the growth starts to foam up with white foam, then you know you are dealing with mold.

For small amounts of mold, many sources recommend using a combination of water and detergent to clean the moldy surfaces. However, Frank Foreman recommends using only products that are approved by the EPA to kill mold. He further states that care and precaution need to be taken when doing the cleanup by an individual. Mold is a living organism and it can travel easily when disturbed. Someone may wash away half of the mold and the other half might release mold spores that can escape to another source of moisture in the home. Or worse, into the A/C or heating system which can spread mold spores to every room in the house, claims Foreman.

Foreman also suggests that someone with a mold problem should really educate themselves before hiring a professional to remove toxic mold. The mold removal industry is completely unregulated. There are no federal, state, or local regulations that govern mold removal professionals. This means, according to Foreman, with no standards, there is no way to prove the job was done or that it is done right. Only seventy to eighty percent of all mold removal jobs are done right, which means the property owner is going to have residual problems.

He says that it is important to shop around, to get references, and to scan the Internet to learn as much as possible about toxic mold and mold removal. Education is the key. Learn the basics so you can talk to the remediation expert and you ll have a good idea if he or she really knows what they re doing.

Mold removal methods vary from company to company. But the process can be complicated and expensive. For example, if a 10 x 10 bedroom has two walls infested with mold, it may be necessary to seal off that portion of the house, remove all wall boards until there are no more visible signs of mold growth. Next, the remediation pro will have to hand sand away the mold. Then, a mold killing detergent will be washed over the surface. The exposed area will then be HEPA vacuumed to remove remnant spores. After the area is tested to make sure there is no more mold, new walls will have to be built back up and painted. As you can see, the process can be time consuming and very expensive. However, to save on excessive destruction, some professionals have been employing fiber optic technology to view within the walls or ceilings, looking for mold growth, before tearing down all the drywall.

If you have had a flooding problem or a major water leak, it is also important to contact your insurance company. Many do not know that insurance may cover the mold removal as well. However, most insurance companies are starting to put limits on mold removal coverage (sometimes keeping caps at $5000 to $10,000.) While it may sound like a lot of money, the insurance company will be giving you money to fix the damage and remove the mold. The mold removal process may cost more than repairing the damage caused by the water. For example, if the roof of a house comes off during a storm and causes water damage to the house, the insurance company may give a lump sum to cover the repairs to the roof, the damage inside, and the mold problem. By accepting their lump sum, you have to pay to replace the roof and damage from water but the money also has to cover the costs to remove the mold that may come days, weeks, or months later.

HOW CAN I PREVENT MOLD FROM COMING BACK?
Once you have removed the entire mold infestation from your property, it is still important to control moisture levels in the structure.

– If there is any kind of flooding, it is imperative you remove the water within 24 to 48 hours.
– Whenever possible, move wet items to a dry, well-ventilated place or outside to speed up the drying process. Remove drywall up to the height of the water level. Remove carpeting as soon as possible.
– Keep the indoor humidity low. If possible, keep below 60 percent relative humidity.
– If condensation or moisture collects on windows, walls or water pipes, dry the wet surface and reduce the moisture. Condensation can be a sign of high humidity.
– Keep gutters clean and make sure water drains away from the building to prevent it from collecting around the foundation.
– Run or install venting fans in high moisture areas, like the bathroom.
– Run a dehumidifier in moist areas, such as a basement or bathroom.
– Ventilating areas can help reduce moisture, as well as keeping the temperature up or the air conditioner on. However, aim the air conditioning vents away from the condensing surfaces to prevent cold spots where moisture condensation can occur.
– Adding thermal insulation to walls, ceilings, and pipes can help, too (in fact, rust spots on any water pipes could be an indication there is too much moisture in a room. Adding insulation to the pipes is a good idea.)

Mold can be a very serious problem in homes and businesses and it is important to take care of the problem as soon as possible. The consequences to health and property can be severe. While remediation of mold can be expensive, the damage mold can cause could be even worse. Frank Foreman has seen many cases where it is actually cheaper for the homeowner to knock down and rebuild an entire house rather than remove the existing mold infestation.
Keep in mind some of the potential signs that mold may be growing within a property:

Unexplained discoloration on a surface
Musty or earthy odor
Dark spots on or around vents
Water stains anywhere
Peeling or curling of floors or wallpaper

Do your homework and hire a professional to handle even moderate mold problems as soon as possible. If one is not sure where to look for a mold removal and remediation specialist, there are services that can help everyone find a local professional. One example would be the service provided by ConstructionDeal.com they have a network of pre-screened mold removal companies and one can register any mold problem for free. Find a local mold removal specialist today. Whenever a home or business owner believes there are signs of mold growth within their property, he or she should contact a professional as soon as possible to avoid future problems or costs. Attack those Killer Mold Spores before your own personal home invasion gets any worse.

Are you tired of waiting for your children to grow up so you can finally let go of your tired, worn couch? Have a real dining room set? Or even lighter toned furnishings?

If you thought that having a family meant putting your decorating skills and ideas on the back burner then you just haven’t been opening your eyes to the stylish ideas designers use to liven up their own homes and their client’s homes, even with children (and pets) around!

CHOOSING MATERIALS

Choosing the right material can make all the difference when furnishing a home for a family.

Have you always loved leather? Well it’s not only great for minor spills that are quickly wiped off, it also wears well, even gaining a beautiful patina with time and use. Leather does not collect pet hair as a cloth couch or chair would, and crumbs and dirt will wipe off easily.

If you prefer fabric upholstery, think of luxurious Ultrasuede. Sophisticated enough for even the most formal rooms, it looks belie the easy care of the material. You won’t deal with fading or staining the way you are accustomed to with cotton, and many stains will come off quite easily with a damp cloth.

Do you have real ruffians running around? You can always count on slipcovers if you need to. Many decorators have used white or cream slipcovers to good effect, although you may consider a stripe or other pattern to disguise everyday wear. And because you can clean them thoroughly by removing them you do not have to be too concerned about occasional messes.

Slipcovers also work well on fancy dining room chairs and can be removed for adult-only dinner parties.

Try to stay away from delicate materials like silks or velvets which stain easily and are difficult to clean.

SAFE CHOICES

If you have small children you may also consider choosing soft furnishings, like ottomans, to replace hazards such as hard edged coffee tables.

Area rugs can be great for keeping light colored carpets in good shape, but be certain they rest flat so children are not prone to trip over them. Selecting heavy rugs or using a special padding underneath to reduce movement would be especially recommended when using rugs on hard, slippery surfaces.

When choosing wood furnishings, light or dark, be sure it has a protective clear coat so that marks and spills do not ruin the finish.

PROVIDING CHILDREN WITH THEIR OWN SPACE

Would your children really mind an ‘adult’ space in the home? If you make most of the home child-friendly, then it is not outside of reason to create one area specifically for adult entertaining or relaxing. Giving children a small area within the adult room where they can read books or sit at a small table for quiet games will teach them to respect and take care of nice things. This, along with making reasonable choices for the rest of the home, allows all in the family to enjoy their surroundings and each other.

More about the hot tub pumps

In most hot tubs, the jet pump has to undertake double duty, powering the hot tub jets at high speed and the spa filtration cycles at low speed. To give you with a soothing massage experience and continuously filtered water, a Hot Spring spa divides the work between the high-powered Wave master jet pump and our split, low-amp, SilentFlo 5000circulation pump. The Wave master jet pump is devoted to delivering the finest massages experience by producing a powerful flow through all the jets. And with an self-governing circulation hot tub pump you can enjoy the powerful jets and soothing water features, and still be assured of clean, heated water, 24 hours a day. While all Hot Spring spas are influential, our High Performance models have even higher horsepower pumps to power additional jets and water features.

Conclusion

Hot Tub Heaters take a lot of mistreatment. From the moment a spa is turned on, hot water and sanitizing chemicals are constantly rocketing through the heater. Industry surveys show that heaters are generally the first part of a spa to fail. It s no surprise, since most heaters are made of stainless steel, which makes them exposed to the pitting and corrosion fatigues that lead to problems ranging from heat loss to complete system failure. That s why Thermo-Spa builds spa heaters stronger, with one of the most excellent and strongest metals known to man – Titanium. A few spa manufacturers use Titanium in their heaters, but they cut costs by making only the heating coil out of this nearly indestructible metal. Thermo-Spas heater, coil and surrounding jacket are all made of Titanium, so the entire heater is resistant to chlorine pitting and practically impervious to corrosion and cracking, which is why Thermo-Spas heaters not only last years longer, they are also backed up with a much superior warranty.

Home warranties have been around for years. However, until recently, home warranties were a well kept secret. Today, home warranties are much more common and are steadily rising in popularity. Home warranties have been around for years. However, until recently, home warranties were a well kept secret. Today, home warranties are much more common and are steadily rising in popularity. Although now, many people just don’t know much about home warranties including what ‘standard coverage’ is for a home warranty and what they can expect for coverage from a home warranty.

A home warranty is exactly like the warranty you have on your appliances for the most part. It works similarly, some things are covered and some things are not. When you buy a new dishwasher, you check out the warranty before you purchase it to see what is covered by the warranty and what isn’t. You wouldn’t purchase a dishwasher without a decent warranty – so why would you purchase a home without one?

A home warranty can be purchased by either the buyer or the seller of a property. For the seller, a home warranty is used as a sales feature that will help secure a higher price for the home. For the buyer, a home warranty is used as a safety net for older homes so that any major repairs are covered.

For the most part, you can expect some standard coverage from your home warranty. Be forewarned though – it’s important to read all the details of the home warranty before you sign up for it.

Most home warranties will cover:

  • The air conditioning system
  • Central heating unit
  • Duct work
  • Electrical systems
  • Ceiling fans
  • Plumbing systems
  • Water heater
  • Refrigerator
  • Built in dishwasher
  • Built in microwave
  • The oven or range
  • Garbage disposal unit
  • A built in trash compactor
  • The washer and dryer

This is based on ‘standard coverage’ for an average sized home, less than 5,000 square feet. However, when you are choosing a home warranty, it is important to discuss all the intricacies of the policy with the agent before you sign up. You need to know if anything is left out of the main list above and why. Quite often, you will find that the garbage disposal or trash compactor isn’t covered with the warranty.

Home warranties vary in price from state to state and from company to company. However, you have to weight the cost of the home warranty to that of any repairs that may need to be done after you’ve moved into your home. If the seller is offering a warranty, it’s usually a good deal. If the seller of the home you are purchasing isn’t offering a home warranty, then you may want to purchase one.

It can be quite costly to replace major appliances and in many cases, having a home warranty means that you don’t have to worry about those upfront costs. Let’s look at some examples of costs to replace major appliances in your home.

A furnace will cost between $1,250 and $3,500 to replace, plus any other work on the ducts and heating system that needs to be done at the same time. Air conditioning units run from $700 to $3,275 for replacement, and once again that number could be higher if there is any other work on the air conditioning system in your home that needs to be completed. An oven or a range costs anywhere from $700 to $2,000 to replace, and although you can install one on your own, or have the delivery guy install it for you, there may be electrical work that needs to be done when your stove or range breaks down. Refrigerators can start as low as $300 but rise up above $2,000, depending on the type of fridge you want. Built in dishwashers can run from $200 to $1,000, washer and dryer sets, from $200 to $2,000 each piece. A water heater can run you anywhere from $375 to $525, as well as any other work that needs to be done on the plumbing and water system in your home. One broken water pipe replacement and fix can cost $100 to $600, not to mention the damage that it can do to your home and your belongings.

When you compare those costs to that of a home warranty, you can easily see that a home warranty may be a great idea when you are purchasing an older home, especially one that you don’t really know that much about yet. Always be sure to look into all the nuances of your home warranty before signing on the dotted line so you can be sure you are getting what you are paying for.

If your old sofa frame is still serviceable, but the upholstery is showing a little wear and tear, updating it could be just a matter of a few yards of fabric and some comfy new cushions. If you were smart enough to choose a sofa with a cushion back and seat, you can end up looking like you have a whole new couch by the time you re finished. Here s how to spiff up your old sofa with new upholstery and cushions.

Cushions and Style Decisions

If your couch has an attached back, your options for restyling will be a bit more limited. Still, you can make a big difference with new fabric covering for the upholstery and a change of style for the seating cushions. It can be as simple as choosing slipcovers for the couch and cushions in a livelier, updated style, or if you re daring you can go as far as cutting away the attached pillow back and replacing it with cushions.

How Many Cushions?

Traditional styles use two or three cushions for both seat and back. If you re just replacing the seat cushions, you have a few choices. If the back of the sofa is one piece without attached or loose pillow-backs you can use as many seat cushions as you want. One full length seat cushion lends a sleek, modern look to an older style. Just use the same fabric as you use for the sofa slipcover to make a cover for the cushion. If you like a more traditional feel, use two or three evenly sized cushions on the seating platform.

If, on the other hand, you ve got a pillow-back sofa, you should stick with either the same number or a single cushion for the seating. In other words, if the back as three pillow sections, use either one or three cushions on the seat base. Anything else will give the sofa an oddly unbalanced feeling.

Covering Your Cushions

The fabric that you choose for the upholstery slipcover and casings for your cushions will be the major style decision that you make. It will also be a major factor in deciding how long your new investment will last. Among the durable, natural fabrics that you can choose are cotton, wool, linen and leather. Among the synthetics, olefin is one of the most versatile fibers available. You can find olefin upholstery fabrics in weaves that mimic nearly any woven fabric that are wash and wear easy when it comes to care. Take the extra trouble to make sure that your slipcovers and the covers for your cushions are removable so that they can be easily dry-cleaned or machine washed.

And then we will be giving advice on how to decorate a guest bathroom to make anyone feel right at home.

Handmade expressions are always a welcome gesture for guests in your home. Let s start the pampering for your guests with how to make a relaxing bath with ingredients you may even have in your kitchen. You can start with plain rock salt that you may be using in a salt grinder for your foods. The bigger the salt grains the better because it looks beautiful and cleanses the skin more effectively.

To the salt you can add any of a multitude of herbs lavender, lemongrass, chamomile or dried flowers roses, daisies, etc. Mix 1 cup of the rock salt (or you can choose Epsom salt) with the ingredients that you have chosen. The more ingredients you use, the more fragrant the bath mixture. You can even go to the local health food store to find organic herbs and flowers that can be used in the process of how to make a relaxing bath.

One of the helpful household hints in how to make a relaxing bath is to add a touch of your favorite perfume or essential oil. This can add even more depth to the fragrance that the dried flowers will release when added to a hot bath. Put the mixture in a pretty jar or bottle and you also have a great addition in how to decorate a guest bathroom as well.

Another one of the more helpful household hints in how to make a relaxing bath is to start with a muslin or another dye-free cloth bag. Into this, you can add all of the fragrant herbs again, but without the salt or the perfumes. This bag can then be put into a hot bath like a tea bag, or used as a sachet for your guest s clothes. Again, you want to be sure that the bag is not colored with dye because that can leak out during a bath and stain the tub as well as your guest.

And there is still another way in how to make a relaxing bath for your guest. You will need unfragranced oil for this recipe and a little more time. Pour the oil into a beautiful jar or bottle. Next, you can add dried herbs to the mixture. Be sure to pick ones that look pretty as well as smell good. Put the cork or the top on the jar and let it sit in a cool area for a few weeks. The fragrance from the flowers will pervade into the oil, making for a relaxing bath oil.

When it comes to helpful household hints in how to decorate a guest bathroom, it s the little things that will matter the most. Think about things that a guest might need lotion (Rich Moisture Cream), a mirror (Clear Reflections Mirror), shampoo and conditioner, a comb, toothbrush and toothpaste, or even a lint brush for their clothing (Reversible Lint Brush). Make a list of things that your guest might need while they stay with you. Who hasn t forgotten something when they re gone to visit a friend or a relative? By taking the time to think about your guest s needs, you will make a great impression for future stays.

When you re deciding how to decorate a guest bathroom, you want to consider making your guest feel special. A nice basket that contains all of the items that you gathered along with instructions on how to make a relaxing bath–will give your guest a feeling of royalty and not imposition. You are quietly saying that you appreciate that they traveled to see you and that you hope that they will enjoy their time as your guest.

Make sure that you have plenty of towels, maybe even a bathrobe on hand and your guest bathroom is finished. You will also want to keep the guest bathroom clean throughout the stay. Try to wipe everything down at least once per day. Now that you have learned how to make a relaxing bath and how to decorate a guest bathroom, you should be ready for anyone to visit even your in-laws!

Summary:
Megalodon was the largest shark the world has ever seen. Initially researchers estimated this beast to be 80 to 100 feet in length. More recent estimates are in the 40 to 50 feet range and weighing up to 48 tons. This makes Megalodon one of the largest predators ever. In fact only the sperm whale is bigger! It would take seven African elephants at seven tons each to equal the weight of this extinct shark.

Super Size Me
This beast had no equal in the ocean and certainly nothing preyed upon it. Providing nourishment for 48 tons of raw powered muscle is no slight task. They probably dined on whales.

The Era of Megalodon
Megalodon was a giant shark that lived during the Miocene and Pliocene epics of the Cenozoic Era, between 2 million and 16 million years ago. Little is known for sure about these giant predators because all that remains of their existence are fossilized teeth. But what teeth they are! They range in size from 3 inches long to 7 inches long. Massive things that are bigger than a man’s hand. It sets the imagination reeling. To put this in perspective a large great white shark measures about 20 feet long and weighs a little over 2 tons. A tooth from a shark like this is about 1.5 inches long.

Megalodon Teeth
Megalodon teeth are very much like a super-sized version of the white shark. There are some differences. The most notable of these is the darker chevron shaped area between the root and the blade of the tooth. This area is called the bourlette. Other differences are the serrations at the edge of the tooth. These are finer than in the white shark and more regular.

No Bones About It
The fossilized teeth are all that remains of this monster because sharks do not have bones. Their skeleton is made up of cartilage. This is what your ears and nose are made from. Cartilage does not fossilize well.

The Family Tree
The white shark is the closest living relative to the megalodon. This is well accepted but sets the stage for controversy.

The debate is over the relationship between the white shark and the megalodon. The scientific name is Carcharocles Megalodon. This is not universally accepted. The point of contention has to do with megalodon’s family tree and whether it was a direct ancestor of the white shark or a great uncle on a different branch of the tree. Proponents of direct lineage want the name Carcharodon (same genus as the white shark). Others believe that though there are similarities, the differences suggest separate lines and so separate names.
