1. Wire Shelving

Nowadays, there is a whole industry dedicated to helping homeowners organize their lives. Many companies produce ready-made closet organizers, some of which are extremely versatile because the shelves are adjustable. These kinds of creating modern closets are better known as wire shelving.

– Specifically designed to maximize the space you have
– Most modern houses these days lack space
– Combines modern living and practicality
– Affordability
– Versatility
– Fits any space
– All the convenience of custom built closets
– A fraction of the cost

2. Know What You Need

Like any activities that need preparations, before starting of doing wire shelving, it is a must that you prepare your tools and materials first. For tools, you will be needing

– Tape measures
– Bolt cutters
– Hacksaw
– Drill bits
– Drivers
– Pencil
– Level
– Hammer

3. Verify The Shelf Size

To verify the shelf size that you need, you have to determine the length of your shelf that will be placed against the wall. Then, deduct about three fourths of an inch provided that the shelf will not tap the wall on a single end. If it does or if the two ends touch the wall, deduct one and one-half of an inch, instead of three fourths of an inch. Thereafter, cut down the portion of the shelving into the appropriate lengths with the use of a hacksaw or the bolt cutters. Be careful when doing this. Keep in mind that you should not cut closer than 1 inch to the perpendicular spacers on the border edge of the shelf.

4. Determine The Type Of Wire Shelving

Basically, wire shelving is installed against the wall through the use of screw-mounted clips and its support from the brackets. It is important, however, that you know what kind of wire shelving you want. This is because the method of mounting the clips is entirely dependent on the wall materials.

For example, for a concrete wall, you need to make a one quarter inch hole deep with a masonry bit and fasten the clip with a 8 x 1 inch screw. If your wall, however, is solid wood, then the installation should start from cutting the rear projection from the clip and securing the clip against the wall with a 8 x 1 inch wood screw.

5. Experience The Difference

– If you already know what method to be used in installing the clips, proceed to the next step by marking the position of the first clip

– Create a corresponding indicator on the other end and construct equal interval indicators in-between. Bear in mind that there should be no two indicators that are more than 12 inches apart

– With each indicator, calculate 5/8 inch up from the guide line and mark an x to specify the spot of the screw that needs to secure the plastic clip

– Make a hole in the center of every spot marked with x

– Strike the clip into the hole with the handle of a hammer and fasten it with a fastening screw

– Provide support to your shelves by securing end brackets and support braces
